The central character in the series is Harry Potter, a boy who lives in Surrey with his aunt, uncle, and cousin – the Dursleys. Harry is an orphan. Voldemort (You-Know-Who) killed his parents when he was a baby. That's why he lives with the Dursleys, who are not very kind to him. He hasn't got his own room, but sleeps under the stairs. His cousin Dudley is always mean to him. Harry is small, quite slim and has got round glasses held together with sellotape. He has black hair and bright green eyes. He has got a scar on his forehead. At the age of eleven, he discovers that his parents were wizards and that he has got magical powers. He goes to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a school for children who have magical powers. He has very strange classes, charms, herbs and potions and defence against the dark arts. He learns to use his powers against the evil character, Voldermort.
