In the United States, we celebrate Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November. This is a day to
the things we have, which we do with a great
.
For my family, we usually
it at our house, with
, uncles, and cousins joining us. Our
relatives usually come before three and four in the afternoon. We
with snacks in the living room, where one of my aunts always brings
, which always gets eaten quickly.
For the
, we have
,
,
,
, and stuffing, which we all eat together in our dining room. We have a few vegetarians in our family, so we’ve recently started including a
stew made with root vegetables.
For dessert, we have a variety of pies, including apple,
, strawberry rhubarb, and my favorite: pumpkin chiffon pie, which my dad makes. This is a version of pumpkin pie where the
filling is mixed with meringue to make it
fluffy .
In recent years, my dad has organized a 5k event on this day that we participate in, which always makes the food feel
earned ,
as it involves running five kilometers early in the morning.
Some of my cousins stay with us
.
We are also
from work and school the day afterward. Sometimes we go somewhere for the day, sometimes we don’t.
That night, we always get
from an Indian restaurant.
I always
look forward to seeing
at Thanksgiving. It’s always a great
reminder that I have all these people
me, which is especially important right now.
