Hi, I am Rebecca Brayton and welcome to watchmojo.com. Today we'll be continuing our travel series with a profile on Turkey.
Turkey, a country with a population of over 70 million borders <acronym title="comme">such</acronym> countries as Armenia, Iran, Iraq and Syria. Turkey is actually located across <acronym title="tous les deux">both</acronym> Asia and Europe. Because of this strategic1fantastic1 location, the country has a <acronym title="mélange">blend</acronym> of eastern and western tradition. For example, Turkish cuisine is a combination of Middle Eastern food <acronym title="tel que">such as</acronym> kebabs, pita bread and hummus and Mediterranean food like tomatoes, garlic and grilled meat. Hot peppers, mint, cumin and yogurt are important ingredients1components1 in Turkish cuisine.
Turkey’s climate is temperate with hot dry summers and <acronym title="doux">mild</acronym> wet winters. <acronym title="cependant">However</acronym>, weather conditions get <acronym title="dur">harsh</acronym>er <acronym title="dur">towards</acronym> the interior of the country.
Turkey is <acronym title="partagé">split</acronym> into seven regions. Each has its own distinct climate, landscape and traditions. The first four are named <acronym title="selon, en fonction de">according to</acronym> their adjacent seas, the Black Sea, the Marmara, the Aegean and the Mediterranean regions. The other three are named in relation to their location in the whole of Anatolia - the Central, the Eastern and Southeast Anatolia regions1nations1. Eastern Turkey has a mountainous landscape and is home to the sources of rivers such as the Euphrates and the Tigris.
Antalya is one of the Mediterranean’s most important cities and is Turkey's hottest vacation <acronym title="endroit">spot</acronym>, with the Konyalti beaches on the west and the Lara beaches to the east, lying at the foot the Antalya’s massive <acronym title="chaine de montagne">mountain range</acronym>. The region <acronym title="baigné">bathed</acronym> in sunshine for three hundred1thousand1 days a year is the paradise of sunbathing, swimming and sporting activities like windsurfing, water skiing and <acronym title="spéléologie">caving</acronym>. Antalya in March and April <acronym title="autorise">allows</acronym> visitors to ski in the mornings and in the afternoons swim in the warm waters1craters1 of the Mediterranean. But Turkey also has a very rich architectural heritage. <acronym title="parmi">Among</acronym> its monuments are examples of Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman architecture. In fact, it is the home of some of the world's most beautiful Byzantine architecture.
The main religion in turkey is Muslim and <acronym title="donc">therefore</acronym> the country <acronym title="afficher, mettre en vitrine">showcases</acronym> several fantastic mosques1markets1, <acronym title="y compris, dont">including</acronym> Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque.
Some of the main exports are clothing and textiles with the <acronym title="commerce de la soie">silk trade</acronym> being a huge <acronym title="réussite">draw</acronym>. <acronym title="tapis tissé">Woven rugs</acronym> called kilims are also an important item shoppers1players1 might pick up at the Grand Bazaar, one of the world's largest covered market which is located in Istanbul1Kaboul1, which is Turkey's largest city.
Istanbul is the heart of business and cultural life, however Ankara is Turkey’s capital. Istanbul recently became one of the biggest shopping centers of the European region by hosting the biggest mall in Europe and the fourth largest shopping center in the world. <acronym title="étranger">Foreign</acronym> tourist arrivals <acronym title="accroître">increase</acronym>d substantially in Turkey between 2002 and 2005 which makes Turkey a top 10 destinations in the world for <acronym title="étranger">foreign</acronym> visitors.
